1999:
The original four teams, the Mariners, Cardinals, Yankees and Diamondbacks
compete in the 15 game inaugural season. The Cardinals take the championship
with a 12-5 record. The first All-Star game pits Stark County Area Baseball League
players against those from the Akron Roy Hobbs League to finish out the
season.
2000:
The league grows from four to six teams. Abbott Electric and Terry's Tire
Town not only prove to be competitive additions but both teams end up facing
each other in the championship game with Abbott Electric going a perfect
17-0.
2001:
The Yankees become Ziegler Tire and the Diamondbacks are now Cresent Title.
During the regular season, Terry's Tire Town defeats Abbott Electric and
breaks a win streak that spanned 30 games. Abbott Electric starts a new
streak and wins their second consecutive league championship. Jim Vertolli,
co-founder, retires.
2002:
The league continues with six teams as the Mariners and Ziegler Tire are
replaced by Dumont's/Walther's and the Lakeview Indians. Abbott Electric
wins their third straight league championship over the Dumont's/Walther's
Tigers.
2003:
The league expands to eight teams with Cheers and the SoundTracks Pirates
joining. Abbott Electric becomes Sparky's and they win their 4th straight
SCABL championship over the Dumont's/Walther's Tigers in a best of three
series. Jim M., co-founder and commissioner, retires. Jon Kidd
becomes the new commissioner for 2004.
2004:
The league expands to twelve teams as SCABL adds Pioneer Financial, Express
Sports, Furbay Electric, and Cardinal Title. Pioneer Financial and
Dumont's/Walther's/Towpath Inn are declared co-champions for the 2004
season.
2005:
The league continues with twelve teams as SoundTracks becomes Knoch
Corporation and Meister Roofing joins the league. Cardinal Title leaves,
Cheers becomes Access Financial/Cheers, Sparky's is now Sparky's/Lions Den,
Cresent Title adds a sponsor to become Cresent Title/Bud's Corner, and
Winking Lizard/Terry's Tire Town co-sponsor. Pioneer finishes 15-1 and win
their second consecutive League Championship
2006: The
league cuts back to nine teams as Cresent Title/Bud's Corner and Pioneer
Financial folds, Wood Electric joins, Express Sports becomes Notturno's, and Sparky's/Lion's Den merges with
Dumont's/Walther's/Towpath Inn to become Sparky's/Dumont's/Walther's.
Access Financial/Cheers and Wood Electric tie for first place in the regular
season, but Wood wins the best of a three-game series to become the overall
league champions.
2007:
The league cuts back to eight teams as Meister Roofing folds,
Sparky's/Dumont's/Walther's drops Walther's as a sponsor and adds Kraus'
Pizza,
and
Access Financial/Cheers now is Cheers/G&G Construction/Dr. Ken Biros.
Cheers/G&G Construction/Dr. Ken Biros
finishes with the best regular season record at 13-1, but Wood Electric wins
the best of a three-game playoff series to become the overall league
champions.
2008:
The league becomes an all wood bat league and uses Silver Creek Bats as
their primary supplier. Several teams from the previous season merge
rosters and change sponsors. The Cardinals and
Winking Lizard/Terry's Tire Town combine forces with Silver Creek
Bats/Winking Lizard/Kraus Pizza being their sponsor. Notturno's
and Knoch Construction merge to have Mallonn's Bar & Grille as their
sponsor.
Sparky's/Dumont's drop their sponsors and become Munson's Home
Plate/Harmon's Pub. Dr. Biros becomes the primary sponsor for his team
